Members of IAB and the International guests from UIA have enjoyed the 3rd part of the Golden Jubilee Event, ‘সুবর্ণ আসরঃ সবারে করি আহ্বান’ held at the IAB Center Multi-purpose hall on the evening of 22 October 2022.
A symposium on the UIA Year of Design For Health was the focus of the event. The two speakers from Denmark, Ms. Natalie Mossin, Vice president UIA Region 1 and Ar. Jakob Brandtberg Knudsen elaborated on the main idea of Design for Health from architectural point of view especially lessons learned after the Pandemic experience and the resulting increased attention on seeking solutions through experimental design and research activities to address well being in the built environment. After their presentation, three panel discussant from Bangladesh, Ar. Marina Tabassum, Ar. Mahmudul Anwar Riyaad and Mr. Kishwar Imdad joined a discussion moderated by Ar. Ishtiaque Zahir Titas, Vice President of UIA Region IV and Vice President (International affairs) of IAB.
Previously, the program began with the welcome address by Ar. Qazi M Arif, Convener of Golden Jubilee Celebration Organizing Committee, followed by an address of greetings from Ar. Mubasshar Hussain, President, IAB. UIA President, José Luis Cortés made his introductory speech on UIA and its activities and the relevance of the theme of the Year of Design for Health.
Mr. Kazi Wasi Uddin, Secretary of the Ministry of Housing & Public Works, GoB, the Chief Guest of the event, felicitated the speakers and panel discussants and later was handed over the memento of IAB Golden Jubilee by IAB President and the Golden Jubilee Convener.
Chief Guest, in his speech, expressed the conviction of the government to enhance the status of public health and wellbeing. He also appreciated the role of Architects in Bangladesh and the activities of UIA, especially in achieving expected targets for health and wellbeing of the society at large in the post pandemic era.
The program ended with a dinner before which spectators enjoyed a short performance by two Mime groups depicting the history of our independence and environmental awareness issues.
