As part of the ongoing efforts of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Procurement Authority (BPPA) recently convened a meeting at the Directorate to discuss the requests made by IAB, providing specific observations for amendments and inclusions in the relevant national documents. The meeting proved fruitful, with several strategic measures identified to promote architectural excellence in public procurement protocols. BPPA and IAB have committed to working together to implement the necessary changes in due course.
The meeting was chaired by Mohammed Shoheler Rahman Chowdhury, CEO of BPPA, with Md Mahfuzar Rahman, Director of CPTU, and Dr Md Aknur Rahman, also Director of CPTU, alongside other officials from the Directorate in attendance. Representing the IAB delegation were Prof Dr Khandaker Shabbir Ahmed, President of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh, Md Nazmul Haq Bulbul, Secretary Profession, and Md. Mahiuddin Khan, Chief Executive Officer.
IAB believes that strategic policy implementations will ensure that architectural talents, particularly those of the younger generations, gain access to public projects in the country.
